On this Wednesday (11), Garena will be launching the new version of its battle royale, which will bring various new features, as well as improvements to the servers for users, meaning the “end” of high ping and faster access to matches.
Through interviews conducted by Garena with Free Fire users worldwide, Garena identified various problems in Free Fire. As a result, it will bring a series of improvements starting with the next update, one of the main changes being improvements to the servers and a reduction in the time to find a match.
The developer issued an official note on its website this week; check it out below:
OFFICIAL NOTE – GARENA

Hello survivors!
We are pleased to share with you a series of optimizations to enhance your gaming experience. Free Fire has a solid foundation for accessibility, but as we become more focused on adding new content, many of you are experiencing more issues running the game itself. In the coming months, we will do our best to address some of the biggest pain points in Free Fire, including basic navigation and lags.
Simplified Interactions in the Game
Upon interviewing Free Fire players, we noticed that on some devices, it took more than 5 minutes to initialize the game. The development team tested on common devices used to play Free Fire and discovered that the long duration is mainly caused by loading too much content at once, including all types of notifications, pop-ups, and other information. To make your experience in Free Fire smoother, we made changes to smooth out your in-game experience:
1. Login and Lobby Optimizations:
a. We shortened the login time and added automatic login.
b. Fewer pop-ups.
b. We shortened the duration between arriving at the Waiting Island and boarding the plane.
c. Faster loading of the friends list.
2. Smoother Interfaces:
a. Including mode selection, team lobby, match results, Vault, events, matching, and missions.
3. Delay Optimizations:
a. Reduced in-game delays.
b. Reduced delays on the match results page.
Of course, it is our ongoing commitment to improve your in-game experience, so stay tuned for more of these optimizations in the future!
Damage Bugs and “Teleportation”
In the last two years, the development team has invested heavily to identify and resolve damage issues caused by bugs, including shotguns at medium range and hidden barriers at 40 meters away. As we delved deeper into these issues, we realized that high ping is often the main cause, giving players the false impression of bug-like or hack behavior. We are now focusing on resolving the high ping issue to further reduce damage bugs.
In this patch, we fixed 2 frequent consequences of high ping. The first, and one of the most common damage errors, is when your damage is invalidated even before the enemy deploys a gel wall. The development team made optimizations so that actions executed are now as close as possible to the command time.
The other optimization is to alleviate the “teleportation” movement issue, which is often mistakenly perceived as hacks. Players moving with high ping tend to advance instantly, making them hard to aim at. We have now made their movements more progressive so they are more predictable and appear less error-filled. In the coming months, we will add more improvements to make high-ping movements smoother.
Internet Connection
In the coming months, we will introduce an update related to the Internet as another effort to resolve the high ping issue. Free Fire covers multiple countries, and its servers span the globe. To better serve our staff in less populous countries, we use the same server for several countries so everyone can enjoy a short waiting period; however, this has led to the high ping problem.
We plan to resolve the issue with our dual network connection, which, if activated, detects which of your Wi-Fi or cellular connections is better and switches to that network. Our other long-term plans include adding more servers and developing game acceleration algorithms.
That’s it for now! The development team loves to hear from you, so we encourage everyone to keep sending feedback and bug reports. When contacting us, make sure to include a clear screenshot/recording, your UID, the mode, the map, and the match time (including the time zone).
Until next time!

WHEN DOES THE UPDATE OCCUR?
The update will occur early this Wednesday morning (11), with server maintenance starting after 1 a.m. (Brasília time) and expected to end at 9 a.m. (Brasília time). The new game version should arrive in app stores around 7 a.m. (Brasília time).
It is worth noting that during maintenance, it is not possible to access the server.
